Traditionally, fossil specimens are viewed as scientific objects. They are categorized, graded, and labeled. Rarity and condition are the determining factors of value, whether academic or commercial. While these qualities should not be disregarded, fossils have so much more to offer.

My name is Scott Terry and I am the sole operator of this site. The journey that brought me here is a winding road. Art and the natural world have been my inspiration as long as I can remember. I started roaming the world in 1971 when I spent several years in central and south Asia. I received a BFA in printmaking and an MFA in painting in the late 1970’s. In 1978 I moved to Martha’s Vineyard, an island off the coast of New England, where I earned a living as a landscape painter and commercial fisherman for over 30 years. When I was a child, someone showed me a fossil leaf. I spent the rest of that summer splitting stones. Unfortunately, I lived in a part of the country that had no fossils, but I was hooked. I began collecting fossils whenever I could find or afford them.
